Sir Adam Gordon

Sir Adam Gordon died circa 1329.

In 1305 he represented Scotland at a Council at Westminster. He held the office of Justiciar of Lothian between 1305 and 1312, under English rule. After 1314 he supported King Robert I. He was granted the territorial Lordship of Strathbogie, forfeited by the Earl of Athole. He was Ambassador to convey the Declaration of Arbroath to the Pope in Rome. He also had two sons in holy orders.

Sir Adam Gordon of that Ilk was the son of Sir Adam Gordon. He died circa 1351. Sir Adam Gordon of that Ilk fought in the Battle of Halidon Hill in 1333, where he was an army leader.

Sir John Gordon

Sir John Gordon was the son of John Gordon and Elizabeth (?). He died from 30 May 1391 to 11 October 1395, without legitimate issue. Sir John Gordon lived at Strathbogie, Scotland. He and Elizabeth Cruickshank were associated in a 'handfast union.' He fought in the Anglo-Scottish Wars between 1377 and 1388.

Patrick Gordon of Methlic and Haddo was the son of James Gordon and Canea Harper. He died on 18 May 1452 at Brechin, Angus, Scotland, killed in action. Patrick Gordon of Methlic and Haddo fought in the Battle of Brechin on 18 May 1452.

In 1505 he obtained a charter under the Great Seal from King James IV. In 1514 he obtained a charter under the Great Seal from King James V.

George Gordon was the son of James Gordon of Methlic and Haddo. He died before 1531. Child of George Gordon • James Gordon James Gordon James Gordon was the son of George Gordon. He married Marjory Menzies, daughter of Sir Thomas Menzies. He died in 1582. In 1567 he rallied to the defence of the young Prince James (King James VI of Scotland and I of Britain) towards the end of the effective reign of Mary Queen of Scots. He joined the 4th Earl of Huntly and remained loyal to the Queen.

George Gordon

George Gordon was the son of James Gordon of Methlic and Haddo and Jean Keith. He married Margaret Bannerman, daughter of Alexander Bannerman of Elsick and Elizabeth Johnston, in 1608. He died in October 1610.

Sir John Gordon, 1st Bt.

Sir John Gordon, 1st Bt. was born in 1610. He was the son of George Gordon and Margaret Bannerman. He married Mary Forbes, daughter of William Forbes, in 1630. He died on 19 July 1644, beheaded after being found guilty of treason (the first Royalist to be executed by a judicial sentence). Sir John Gordon, 1st Bt. was next in command of the Royal forces to oppose the Covenanters. He fought in the action at Turreff in 1639. He was created 1st Baronet Gordon, of Haddo, co. Aberdeen [SCOTLAND] on 13 August 1642. In October 1643 he protested against the Covenant. On 8 May 1644 at Kelly, Devon, England, his house was besieged and he was taken prisoner on its surrender.

Sir John Gordon of Haddo, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1632. He was the son of Sir John Gordon, 1st Bt. and Mary Forbes. He married Mary Forbes, daughter of Alexander Forbes, 1st Lord Forbes of Pitsligo and Jean Keith. He died in 1665, without male issue. Sir John Gordon of Haddo, 2nd Bt. succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Gordon, of Haddo, co. Aberdeen on 19 July 1644, however, due to his father's attainder, was under forfeiture until the Restoration in 1660.
